Happy Thanksgiving & National Family History Day!

CGA-IGC

Did you know that Thanksgiving is also National Family History Day

As you prep for Thanksgiving consider having a conversation about any history of hereditary gastrointestinal diseases in your family.

Knowing your family health history allows you to take steps to reduce your risk and make the right decisions at the best time.

Family gatherings can be a good time to discuss these issues. As you gather this information it is important to think about sharing it with your healthcare team and keeping it up to date as new information become available.

There are many resources available online and the Colon Cancer Coalition has some useful information about collecting your family history including a pre-printed form which you can complete and share with your healthcare team.
